Operation Limit: Driver arrested on M6 slip road for drug driving and disqualified driving after car hit wall in Windermere

Operation Limit – targeting dangerous drivers, including drink and drug drivers - has so far seen more than 600 vehicles stopped and around 40 arrests made. Last night (9 Dec) we received a report that a black Mercedes was being driven erratically in Windermere and had spun before colliding with a wall before being driven off.

Our officers tracked the car down and stopped it as the driver was about to pull onto the M6 at junction 36 .

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and after failing a roadside drugs wipe. He was further arrested for possession of Class A after suspected drugs – alleged to be crack and heroin - were discovered hidden in his underwear.

We are targeting drug and drink drivers all year round.
