Man charged and remanded after cocaine found in vehicle

A man has been charged after officers stopped his vehicle and located 1kg of cocaine. Njazi Altini, 37, of Golders Green Road, London was charged by detectives from Westmorland and Furness’ CID with possession with intent to supply cocaine and was remanded into custody until a further hearing on 21 August. On Tuesday evening, officers from Cumbria’s Road Crime Team stopped Altini’s vehicle near Penrith. Upon searching the car, over 1kg of cocaine was located with an estimated street value of around £100,000. The investigation and seizure forms part of Operation Alliance - our wider ongoing response to protect the county against serious and organised crime.
